Hey! I’m Sarah Nanbu, the Community Coordinator here at OpenSesame. “What exactly is a Community Coordinator?,” you ask. Well, the role is part customer support and part social media coordination (and all awesome, in my opinion).
I first learned of OpenSesame as an intern with Oregon Entrepreneurs Network’s Angel Oregon investment competition. (I interned for Angel Oregon in 2012, the year after OpenSesame won.) And I’ve been following their growth ever since.
I’m passionate about providing awesome customer experiences. Too often, I find myself on the receiving end of poor customer support, which is frustrating—not just because it feels icky—because I see it as a huge missed opportunity to create a loyal customer and advocate. And let’s be real—providing great customer experiences is a pretty easy way to make the world a better place. I am excited by the opportunity to work with a team that seeks to blow customer expectations out of the water.
When it comes to social media, I can’t get enough! I think it’s a powerful and effective tool to build community and share information, and I love learning about different platforms, channels, and best practices. Through previous jobs, internships, and volunteer opportunities, I’ve been able to use social media for different organizations and purposes, and I’m looking forward to using what I’ve learned—and to continue learning—at OpenSesame.
Outside the office, you can usually find me out and about in Portland, and more often than not, food is involved. I also volunteer as a Portland Startup Weekend organizer, and I’m on the committee for the UP HIVE, the University of Portland’s alumni-led networking group.
