Hi, I am Shannon Willis Pier, Senior Accountant with OpenSesame. I’ve been a part-time employee with OpenSesame since the very early days of its inception, but am excited to announce that as of November I am a full-time team member. Many of you already know me, but I would like to take this opportunity to officially introduce myself.
I am originally from Sparks, Nevada and attended the University of Nevada, Reno—with a major in English Literature. I started working as a bookkeeper while in college, and while my love of literature has never faded, my part-time student job turned into a career in keeping books, not reading them. I went on to get a post-baccalaureate degree in accounting from Linfield College after moving to Portland.
I’ve lived in Portland going on nine years now, and with its close proximity to awesome hiking trails in the Columbia Gorge and many, many amazing restaurants, I absolutely love it here—although I do sometimes miss sunny Nevada when it’s been raining here for days on end! In my free time I like to take as many yoga classes as possible (right now I am obsessed with handstands!), and hang out with my husband Nathan and our hound dogs Lucy and Aero (the sweetest Catahoula Leopard dogs you will ever meet).
I’m so pleased to be a part of such a dedicated, focused, and fun team here at OpenSesame and I couldn’t be happier that I will now be in the office full-time.
