What is AB 1825 and who needs to comply with it?
In 2004, California mandated that all persons in a management position supervising more than 50 employees be required to take a sexual harassment course (AB-1825) to provide training in proper workplace behavior. Governor Schwarzenegger signed this law in effect as a preventative measure to guard against harassment in the workplace.
This law clearly defines the nuances of what it means to be in compliance with the regulations.
Some of the key features include:
1. At least two hours of classroom or other effective interactive training and education regarding sexual harassment.
2. Training must be presented by educators with knowledge and expertise in the prevention of harassment, discrimination, and retaliation.
3. Additional classes must be completed every 2 years thereafter.
4. Courses can be web-based or face to face classroom training.
